Maintain barcode template standards including colours and dimensions
Importantly, the fundamental standards of the barcode must remain unaltered. Let’s clarify those briefly:
- The colour contrast must remain dark bars and numbers on a light background.
- The dimensions of the barcode must conform to industry standards.
- The Left, Right and Centre Guard bars must be of sufficient length. Do not crop the barcode in any manner
1. Dark bars and lines on a light or white background
By incorporating colour schemes, this allows for some different colour palettes to be introduced or for uniform background colours to remain intact. Sometimes, seeing a bland black and white barcode image on an otherwise colourful and creative product label can deter the customer from its beautiful design elements.
2. Barcode dimensions
The size of an EAN-13 or UPC-A barcode is 25.93mm (height) by 37.29mm (width). It can be reduced to a size not less than 80% (dimensions of 22.85mm by 31.35mm).
You can however, elongate the lines and bars, then add creative imagery to the template.
